About Svea's Kitchen
Birgitta ran Cheltenham’s only Swedish restaurant for over ten years, winning many rave reviews and loyal customers with her delicious and authentic Swedish food.
“Svea” was listed in the Michelin Good Food Guide for several years running, appeared on the BBC “One Show” with critic Jay Rayner, gained a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence and regularly featured in the national and local media’s eating out guides.
Raised on the West Coast of Sweden, an area renowned for superb fish, seafood and local produce, Birgitta is well versed in the traditional Scandinavian techniques of pickling, curing, smoking and spice-infused home baking. Whilst studying in Italy as an adult, Birgitta added
classic Italian cuisine to her culinary repertoire.
As a private freelance chef in Gloucestershire Birgitta regularly caters for à la carte functions and looks after menus and recipe development for Svea’s Kitchen with her family proving very willing testers.
Kate has a particular interest in nutrition and food trends. A keen home cook, she married into a Swedish family and fell head over heels for Nordic cuisine in its many forms and diversity of flavours and also the relaxed, informal style of Scandinavian entertaining.
Kate’s career background in the service sector, specialising in training and business development means she particularly enjoys working with our clients from their initial enquiry to achieving the party or event of their dreams with minimum stress.
